IF a woman is in menapause state, than does that mean that the ovaries are dying or are gonna dye?, and if so would it be best to get them taken out as opposed to staying in there and chancing cancer. But can they get cancer when and if they are dead? These ovaries have what a doctor calls pop off cysts. Will those quit too? If the cancer does get in to the dead ovaries, than would the body still distribute the cancer from that area in to other areas?

I believe the definition of menopause is permanent cessation of menstrual cycles. I am sure I will be corrected if that is wrong. Essentually it is when a womans reproductive cycle stops.
It doesn't mean that your ovaries are dead (unless your gyn has told you otherwise). I have never heard of "pop off cysts" so someone else can pick up that question. I will say that ovarian cysts can rupture, can be large, can require surgery, and can be cancerous. That doesn't mean that yours are or will. I really don't have a huge base of knowledge in this area. Here, I googled it for you....

I really appreciate the info.. I am just wondering if you are some kind of Dr.? I don't know if maybe you posted this answer somewhere else and I missed or have forgotten it. Any way, this is some good info.. Thanks .
LOL Unite. No, I am not a doctor, but I have been a nurse for longer than I would like to admit.
Hi Burgi, I appreciate your honest answer. I left the forum for awhile. I haven't done much of anything lately. I got really bummed out the other day at the docs. I found out that I have fibromyalgia, arthritis in my feet, and dicinigrated and dicinigrating discs in the base of my spine. I'm still tryin to wrap my mind around it. Oh yea, and a serious sinus infection too. I am just a mess. I am not old enough to be going through all of this. This is only half of my medical problems. It's crazy!! I am so sick of pills I could spit!
So my ovaries do not die with menapause huh? Well will they continue to form cysts? Have you had some experience yourself with this? Do you know someone that has?
I appreciate the googlin. It did help somewhat. I am still in the air as to whether or not they should come out. It is scary to me either way. I do not like surgery. Sounds like I am not gonna have much of a choice with my back and bladder muscle though. I gotta get em fixed if I can. I would love to be out of constant pain. I would also like to get off of all of these meds. It has affected my quality of life. I need some relief!! Oh well,Thank you again.

I completely understand what it's like to have cfs/fm. U should really consider seeing a fm specialist, all of the problems you have stated (back, bladder, cysts) can be related to fm.
How old are you? I am not 100% positive, but I believe when you go into menopause the cyst formation will stop. Yeah, I have been there too. I was given BCP when I was 11-12 related to cysts. I have never had a problem since (knock on wood). I had to take many classes on human anatomy and the reproductive system in college but I am not an expert by any means.
It is very very very important to get multiple opinions before having any kind of surgery. Surgery can make your pain much worse than it is now. I know you are in pain and will do almost anything to make it stop but it is extremely important to do the research first. I do have quite a bit of experiance with back and neck surgeries. If you need help finding a respected surgeon, let me know. I will help you find one.

Oh Burgi, you can't imagine how I want your help. I am on medicaid though so I am not allowed to see a specialist unless one or all of my doctors refer me to them. That is how medicaid works. I am in the process of filing for disability. I don't know how that works.
I am 44. I do not understand why my body is breaking down. So is there a way to stop the dicinigration of my discs that are still there? Will this steroid epidural help to mend it or just take the pain and swelling away? I will ask my doctor all of these questions as well, I was stupified leaving there though. I had to let it sink in and try to figure out what to do next. I am just not sure about this epidural thing. My back is in enough pain, I don't want something to go wrong and they hit something they shouldn't with a needle. Yes, I am a big chicken of needles and surgery.
Do you think my doctor should refer me to someone who knows more about the spine and back bones? Why wouldn't he? I am a little confused there. I would have thought right away he would refer me to a back specialist, but he hasn't. He is a general practioner. My family doctor. He is good and nice, but I don't understand why he did not pass to a back doctor. I may have to say something to him about it.
But, yes Burgi, I am willing to listen to anything you got. I am a mess. It sure couldn't hurt anything. LOL. Thank you again for your kind words and concern. That means alot to a person in daily pain. Thanks
Just so you know: disintegration.
Bless you. I know you are going through really tough times. Tell your doctor you want a specialist for your back. Ask him to refer you and write it down. Keep asking him. Unfortunately, 44 is not too young for your body to start breaking down. I developed severe arthritis at age 30.
I am really wondering why they're giving you a sterioid if your spinal discs are disintegrating? Sterioids are known to turn your bones into Swiss cheese.
Keep asking questions. God be with you. You have my prayers.
