I found anything hot in the morning has that effect, certainly coffee...
Earl Grey Tea, hmm.
Also, and this is funny, but I don't care how it sounds...I keep a pack of cigarettes
in the fridge.
If I have an early appointment and don't want to have to go #2 there...I will take
4 drags off a cigarette and boom...all goes well!
That's it...I'm not a smoker...was sometimes in my 20s, I suppose.

This reminds me of an episode of House where a patient was seriously constipated and House told him to smoke a cigarette. The other staff members freaked. Funny, but I bet it works.
Mom always said that the morning coffee was her laxative. I didn't use caffeine until age 68 (Diet Dr. Pepper). Always drank a lot of soda before then, but non-caffeine. Anyway, it's most pronounced effect has been a short burst of energy.
Simultaneously at age 68, I developed hyponatremia (low serum sodium). Caffeine? Or just coincidence?
