No, not really. It's cheaper in bulk, just like pretty much anything you pay for. For instance:
I can buy water lily absolute, measured in ounce fractions rather than litre fractions, so the closest thing to 5 ml I can get is 7.39 ml (which is 1/4 fluid ounce). That'll set me back $184.69. Multiply that by 4, and you'll get $738.76 per ounce pricing.
However...
I can buy 4 ounces of it, at $2102.02 for the bottle. That comes to only 525.51 per ounce. Since water lily absolute is so rare, I can't get better pricing than that, from this particular importer.
I can get tuberose absolute for $102.54 for the same 7.39ml size bottle. And if I want 16 ounces of it, $4464.52 for the bottle. So the 7.39/ml bottle would be $410.16 per ounce, and if I get it in bulk with a 16-ounce bottle instead, it'd come to only $279.03/ounce, which is significantly less.
Moral of the story: buy in bulk if you can, accept the high cost of small quantities if you can't. Also, get in touch with the pharmaceutical company, maybe they'll cut you a break. Many companies do.
