Did you go with mid thigh? What are you doing for pain relief?

I'm glad your loved one is doing well. Any idea what caused the infection? I'm guessing the bone break was necrotic in nature?

Yes, mid thigh, but it really didn't help as far as a prosthesis goes, unfortunately. In order for a prosthetic, the knee must be in tact.

Rimadyl and Tramadol for pain.

I'm sure the broken bones didn't help. Mostly though, I think it was the external fixator.

We are 11 days in and she seems to have no complaints regarding pain. She is wanting to go outside more and more, and she seems to be happy out there. I still give her pain meds, though. She's a brave soul too good for this world.

Thank you, all.

Glad she's doing well. Most dogs adjust quite well to only having 3 legs. Once they recover from the surgery, it doesn't slow them down at all.
