My children and I are all AB+. Apparently only 3 percent of the nation has this blood type. I used to give blood frequently but my doctor told me one day that my blood probably grows old on the shelf. Because we can only donate to other AB+ but can received blood from nearly everyone. I haven't given blood since because I don't want to go through all that if it's not even helping anyone.

Do you know if this true??

Yes, sadly it is true that only an AB+ person can receive your blood. I don't know about the shelf thing.
