I read that there is a deadly strain out there. Kind of scares me.

I don't know. I had a shingles shot this year for the first time and haven't had an outbreak since then.

I had pneumonia once and it was horrible. I came down with it while on a cross country trip moving from California to Arkansas. I was sick as a dog and had to spend 3 nights in Sedona, AZ before I could do anymore driving. The ER didn't want me to leave until I promised to hunker down in a hotel before moving on.

There have been threads on this forum about the new pneumonia vaccine. If you do a search, you can find what many others, including myself, have posted.

I haven't looked at the other threads about it yet but I had been planning on getting the injection.

I had a pneumonia shot quite a few years ago and I read that they wear off and it's time to get another one.

I've had the shingles shot and that was nothing (except a great relief that I may never get shingles or at least I will probably get a less severe case.)

to each their own...I'd rather [risk] getting pneumonia, (which I've never had,) than getting a shot, which also carries risks.

Pneumonia Shot Dangers: What You Need to Know
Brownstein is a quack

"newsmax" is a right wing rag

Anything coming from this poster will be anti vaccine

If you are over 65 or immunocompromised in any way you should definitely consider getting the shot

I have had 3, the 2nd one 5 yrs after the first, and the Prevnar one recently. That was the only one to give me a problem : I had a hard hot red lump at the site for about a month.

Pissing your pants because you read about some dangerous bugs out there does not merit you getting a vaccine. If you want to be safe, please start with annual flu shot.

(FYI: you should get it if you are >65 years of age, have heart failure, kidney disease, compromised immunity such as HIV or organ transplant, etc. There are specific guidelines. Usually 2 shots 5 years apart. See Adult Immunization Schedule by Vaccine and Age Group | CDC)

Not big on vaccines. I have not had any type vaccine in probably 30 yrs. My immune system is strong and healthy due to, I'm sure, OPC's... But this is me and I'll be 78 this year.
