120/80 is considered "perfect" . 136/86 is borderline high. But as others say it fluctuates. Get a monitor for home and test it regularly at different times and get an average. I've been on medication for high BP for 10 years. Without the medication I'm consistently around 140/90 and that is considered too high if that's constant.

It is a bit high if it continues to stay there. It is not a concern if it is that high once in awhile. Mine hovered around there for a few years, and then my GP put me on medicine.
Ok so I bought a home automatic digital monitor, a very good one. Blood pressure is normal in the morning and night (122/78, 118/82), sometimes it goes up during the day if I am moving a lot etc but I would think it's normal to go up a lot when active?
Is 136/85 blood pressure reading considered high? Went to the doctor for a cold and had a blood pressure reading done, which indicated 136/85. It seemed higher than usual for me, but is it considered high? Girl taking it said it was normal but seemed too high for me. I didn't remember to ask the doctor at the visit once he came in.
Did you walk into the exam room and they took your blood pressure immediately?
This happens a lot but it is not right. You should have a short time to sit and relax before they take it -- which will generally result in a lower reading. Maybe the girl said it was normal because she usually takes it incorrectly.
When this happens to me I tell them "Take it again and it will be considerably lower." And it always is.

See my post below. You need to sit down and chill out before you take your BP.

I did sit a few minutes before going in but I have a thing where I get extremely nervous before going into the doctors. I am a bit of a germaphobe, lol, so it always makes my heart race. I did say to her it was high for me, she said it was fine. I know better next time to ask for it to be retaken now…for now though will continue to use my monitor at home so I know the real deal. Thanks!

Given that, it was on the low side then! Even just stand or walking it will be higher than if you have been sitting immediately beforehand.

My BP may have been 120/80 when I was in my 20's....I remember in my 30's it was 130/80...and I'm 77 and it fluctuates and rarely 120/80...as we age our arteries narrow. BP depends on foods, drinks, talk, thoughts, all of it and it can go up. Going to the docs one can count on WCS...doctors should take the pressure 3 times before patient leaves.
