I have to pick up two vaccines for my kid from the pharmacy (chickenpox and meningitis acwy) and then take them to the health centre so they can be given to her (rather stupid system I think but that's the way it is) and I'm planning on picking them up about an hour before the appointment to give me time to pick up my kid from daycare and get a taxi to the health centre as its in the next town over. Is an hour out of the fridge safe or do I need to use a cool bag or something? I tried googling but everything seems to be about professional transportation over long distances with proper storage, nothing about just take two vials from one town to the next.

I can't speak to those two specific vaccines, but when I've picked up horse vaccines and other injectables from the vet, I always take a cold pack with me (or they provide one). I'm only about 20 minutes away from the vet, but I worry that I might be delayed in traffic or for some reason not be able to inject it in a timely manner. Or if it's cold I want to be able to run the car heater without worrying. Better safe than sorry. Hope that helps.

Why can't you ask the pharmacy that is supplying it in the first place?
Ok I guess I better find a cool bag and cool pack, and maybe pick up kiddo first and get the taxi straight from the pharmacy, that'll cut the time down.

I tried to ask but it was an older lady who didn't speak English so there was a bit of a communication breakdown. Hopefully there will be someone younger when I pick them up.
I took a cool bag in the end and they were still cool to touch when we arrived (finally, had horrid trouble trying to get a taxi!) so all good in the end Next time though (if there is one) I think I'll just take her to a private doctor for non-schedule vaccinations so I don't have to transport them myself!
