I'm quite sure we're talking about a different story. The "factory" where Ethel worked was a WW1 shell-loading munitions plant that was closed down and salvaged in the 1920s. It was part of a village known as "Penniman," located about seven miles from Williamsburg.
Ralph managed the livestock for the village (some distance from the shell-loading lines).
For the last 98 years, the story of Ethel and Ralph had been pretty well lost in the mists of time.
Here are a couple pictures of Penniman from the Library of Congress (1918). By 1925, the plant had been "salvaged" and all these buildings were gone.
BTW, if you look close, you'll see some of the buildings have chutes. This is where the women worked with fulminate of mercury, TNT and other high explosives. They were told that if they had occasion to use these chutes, they were to "hit the ground running and do not look back."
