First we hear alcohol/dairy/coffee/butter on and on is bad for us then it is good for us. All very confusing. Recently I read that diabetic could have as much as 2 glasses of wine every night! No wonder the public is frustrated.
I think an occasional glass of red wine is good for you, but I don't think even one drink every day is good, but if that's all you have there are a lot of worse things daily like fried foods and sugary foods and fast food and cold cuts and dairy. etc/
The bottom line is, you gonna DIE!
No matter what you eat or drink, or what you DON'T eat or drink,
YOU GONNA DIE!
So, you might as well live happily, whatever that means to YOU!
Personally, I eat or drink what I want when I want it, and I pretty much ignore the "experts".
I have made it to the mid-70s, so it is working for me so far.
The article is a bit misleading. The study looked at the effects of alcohol consumption on mortality, not whether or not it is "good for you". The previous meta-analyses mis-classified former drinkers and occasional drinkers as alcohol abstainers, which made it appear as if moderate alcohol drinkers lived longer than alcohol abstainers. Problem with that is it didn't take into account that people may limit or abstain from alcohol because of a health condition that requires them to. Re-running the numbers while adjusting for this, it turns out that alcohol consumption doesn't have any significant mortality benefits over not drinking or occasionally drinking.
I refuse to make myself crazy with all the stuff that "experts" tell us are good/not good for us. I eat a balanced diet, and have sweets, snacks and alcohol in moderation. I exercise regularly, and avoid doctors as much as possible. That's it.
We're all going to die some time. Until then, I believe in enjoying life.
The stats are solid on that fact. Its probably the only thing everyone can agree on
