Anyone else ever get lock jaw? TMJ? I think I just got lock jaw. Wow it is PAINFUL!! My mouth would only open like an inch. I could barely eat anything! It's starting to heal a little bit now, I think. The pain seems to have subsided a bit.

Lockjaw is actually the common term for tetanus.

TMJ is something different, LOL! You can get a locked jaw in TMJ though, and I hear it is quite painful. Hope you feel better soon!

TMJ - flat out stinks. Its terrible. I had a bad case of it several years ago. Every once in a while it flares up - whooo eeee - it is not fun. The only advice I can give to you is to do your best to not clench up. Try to keep your jaw as relaxed as possible. I know its hard because it hurts - but try.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

TMJ is largely related to stress. When my daughter was 6 and we were living in NY (and she was in Catholic school with a MEAN teacher!) She wolud often have ear aches, and I wolud constantly take her to the Doctor and he would find nothing. It ended up being TMJ. We moved to the Mountains of Pa, and no more TMJ!

Yeah it started right around a VERY stressful week. I tried to stay away from foods that I had to chew too much which helped. The pain is thankfully going away! I can actually yawn now with minimal pain. Yay!
