Can you elaborate on that a little. I've known many pot smokers over the years but can't say I've ever seen it destroy anyone. You might want to read this thread:

The subject was 'illegal drugs', not necessarily just pot. I know some people who smoke pot who function quite nicely most of the time. I know potheads who haven't enough motivation to get through one day without getting stoned, much less do anything productive.

I will say that the destruction of individuals and families comes from the use and abuse of the harder drugs. I've seen overdoses, I've seen deaths, I've seen families being kicked out of their homes because dad spent the rent on crack or other forms of cocaine. And some of these experiences relate to some who are very close to me which is why just the thought of it makes me ill.

I agree with you that the harder, addictive drugs can ruin people's lives but as you can see from your post, it seemed as though you were talking about pot.

You're right...I could have been more clear! But I don't think doing any illegal drug is a good idea and I've never known anyone who started out on heroin or cocaine...everyone I've ever known to do drugs started with pot.

The first illegal drug I used was alcohol. Well, illegal for my age anyway. After that it was LSD followed by mushrooms. Marijuana was fourth.

I think you'll like this short video

In this instance, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) gets Mueller to admit that marijuana has never killed anybody, then smashes into tiny bits the decades-old "gateway drug" argument with a unique analogy of milk and bourbon.

I think his analogy of milk/beer/bourbon was nothing more than a smarta$$ comment. Most of us don't think of alcohol when we're talking "drugs" although I do admit alcohol is probably the #1 drug.

And say marijuana was legalized...at what age would it be legal? 18? 21? Yet it would still be used by the younger set and it would still constitute illegal drug abuse.

Eh, scientifically, I have no problem with legal drugs. Empirically..I've never seen someone who uses them and actually is doing something with their lives. Generally they seem to be a drain on the people around them.

I think that people should be allowed to medicate however they wish..it's a free country. Just personally I think it's idiotic and a waste of brain cells. And boy wouldn't it be nice to get tax revenue from burnouts.
