I have a blocked tear duct. My eye tears up and some matter too. I am having surgery and they will put a new tear duct in.

Has anyone had this or know of anyone who has had this? Is it hard to go through? The Docs seem to think it is minor and no problem.

It's not considered "major" surgery, by any means! You will be fine...simply follow the Dr.'s instructions!

Thanks! I have not heard of any who have had this surgery. Anyone out there?

I had the operation. Not a big deal, although I didn't like the little tube left in to keep the new tear duct open. I had to be careful to not rub my eye - didn't want to dislodge the thing. The surgeon removed it after about 6 weeks. The removal wasn't bad as I thought it'd be.

Thanks, Gabby, for your response. You are the first adult I have had any contact with who had the operation. May I ask if the operation left any bruising or swelling. Was the eye normal looking after it all healed up? Thanks so much for your time. I have been so worried about this. Your answers helps me to know what is coming.

I have now had the surgery and things are going okay. I have some swelling and bruising of the area under the eye. Thanks for your input and info.
