ALL laws were originally based on moral or religious teachings. But I'm not "the spokesperson for organized religion" here. I'm simply saying that *I *believe suicide to be a serious spiritual mistake. What *you* believe is between you and your God -- or no God, if that's what you happen to believe.
And you are most certainly entitled to your belief. If you don't want to avail yourself of assisted suicide you don't have to. But you are not entitled to try to keep others from humanely ending their lives, if they choose to.
Death With Dignity wouldn't do much good for me, as I'd have to be in a terminal state, and I couldn't wait that long! Death With Dignity needs to go a lot further, to include those not terminally ill, like quadriplegics and those who have suffered strokes and left paralyzed. Sadly, they don't qualify!
Before I let myself go to such a terminal state, I'd just fly off to Switzerland to the Dignitas Clinic, the most liberal suicide clinic in the world, where you only need be suffering from long-term Depression to qualify! $5850 plus one way air fare!
