I have seen the occasional cold here and there, but not much flu...is your community being affected by this? People who I have talked to in other states said that the flu is really terrible right now.
Interesting that you just posted this. My teenage son just came home from school and said their is a nasty flu going around the school. My daughter's pre-school only had half the kids there this week.
It usually starts with the small kids then spreads through the general population. I haven't heard about much in the schools here yet (some colds), so I hope it stays that way *fingers crossed*. The vaccine is supposed to be ineffective this year, so that might be affecting the spread.
Usually this area is a mixing ground for all kinds of germs between the warmth, tourists, etc so I'm surprised at how light the season is so far in South Florida. The state published an activity map and it looks like most of the outbreaks are occurring in the panhandle.
Well, here goes the neighborhood .

Reason: there it goes!
We have a huge outbreak going on in my town out here in So Cali. One of our friends is a Dr., he called us today and told us he is sick with this flu and he still has to work with his patients. I was sick with the worst flu I have ever had in my life, and it lasted for about 2 weeks. Both my girls got it, my hubby managed to escape the flu as of yet. I know so many people who have gotten this flu, its kinda scarey.
Flu activity is widespread in 44 states and has increased the past two weeks. Part of the reason it is so bad is because this year's vaccine does not protect against one of the three strains circulating (the Melbourne strain). Wash your hands after touching everything (gas pumps, doorhandles, etc) and upon entering your home. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR EYES NOSE OR MOUTH. CDC - Influenza (Flu)
yes, everybody is sick. one, because the flu vaccine isn't working like it should. And two, because those viruses tend to live longer in cold weather. It's like keeping food in the fridge so it doesn't go bad!
Consequently, everyone gets sick in the colder months.
I'm recovering from the flu right now- had about a week of fever, aches and the rest of the garbage that goes with it. I thought I was better this weekend, but forgot about the lingering exhaustion, chills, sore sides from hacking. Now I'm doing what I can to fight a secondary infection.
I was sick for almost 3 weeks. I went to the doctor after 2 and got some antibiotics. The Flu is everywhere here in N Colorado.
It really does a number to you. The cough is bad, chills, sore throat..
It's pretty rampant here (NC) as well. SO far (fingers crossed, knocking on wood) we've escaped it.
