Reg hiccups you can stop usually by holding your breath 30 seconds......

Good luck
It seems to stop it a short while, but its back within 10-15 minutes. Sooner if I get up and start moving around.

I don't know what home remedies you've tried but this one always works for me and I've seen it work with others. True, it's just been for the occasional hiccup attack, but it might help.

Take a spoonful of sugar and let it melt in your mouth and go down your throat. Use real sugar, not a sugar substitute.

Let us know if it works.

Baclofen isn't working. I've now had hiccups for 10 months.

As suddenly as they started, they have mostly stopped—every now and then I might still have 1 a day, but my 2 year hiccup episode has mostly ended.

Great! I bet that's a relief.

If we define "seizure" as an inappropriate firing of nerve cells in the brain, then a hiccup is a seizure of the vagus nerve nucleus. That's why minor episodes can be cured with various maneuvers like holding your breathe or swallowing-- they involve an organized firing of the vagus nucleus, apparently over-riding the inappropriate activity (kinda like a chest thump to "reset" a fibrillating heart, I guess).

Other common "seizures" include deja vu- abnormal activity in the brain center that senses time, or panic attack- firing of the limbic system (fear/anxiety center).

Glad to hear it ended.

I wanted to share what my daughter's primary grade teacher taught her. Somebody holds your ears closed, while you hold your nostrils closed, then drink about 8 sips of water and that has always worked for my daughter.

I have deja vu at least oncea day. I also experience the opposite where familiar things seem strange.
