Every time this commercial is played I watch and I cannot tell what they are on about.
Yes, I know it is about psoriasis, but the way it is presented, the infected person is shown as a pariah in the community - everyone around them avoids them and isolates them because of the disease.
First, as I watch the commercial, I see nothing on the person in question that would support this attitude. I also know several people who have psoriasis and I have never seen anything horrible in the skin of my friends, just a kind of scabby texture in an area or two. Is this the big deal they are trying to make something of in the commercial, or is there something more to it?

I've wondered about that, too. My mom had psoriasis her whole life, and it showed in scabby, shiny patches mostly on her elbows. She was extremely popular, had many friends, worked and volunteered and I never knew of anyone who even really noticed those patches, much less cared about them or treated her like an outcast.
My father had psoriasis - as others have said, mostly on his elbows but also his scalp. He was a successful dentist, constantly in front of the public and it was not an issue that I knew of. He did say it was terribly itchy and he trained himself never to scratch, but I never heard him speak of any negative comments.
Without Enbrel my psoriasis is all over my body. Legs, arms, face.
I would leave a bunch of dead skin on the arm rests of chairs when I would leave. I wanted to cover up all my limbs despite living in a tropical climate. People would recoil thinking it could be contagious. It can crack, and bleed.
Do some research before claiming they are trying to push drugs on people.

I do agree - it is a matter of severity and most commercials regarding psoriasis mention "moderate to severe plaque" which is a different ballgame.
The I guess I should have said... "The affected person". But anyway the point of the post/thread was that I don't see what they are on about - in the commercial. Thanks to those here to confirmed that it wasn't just me.

You just don't understand how bad it is, and would rather view it as big pharma trying to make money than the huge benefit it gives people who are severely affected.
I would encourage you to educate yourself beyond watching a commercial.
Do you ever see diabetes commercials showing blackened feet and amputations? No.
