Well, my mom
DID use a few
"substances", and among my many stupid cousins back-home
(the ones NOT descended from the Russian Peddler), there's a generation who're doing drugs worse than Mom's. And I've gotta say... If Mom
HAD dropped-dead from an overdose, and if bunches of my problematic cousins
did drop dead, after taking
"Grey Death", then
their deaths would be/would have been, GOOD THINGS.
Mom would have been put out of her misery, and would have stopped siphoning-off all the money from the checks coming into the household. My check, her Mother's checks, her Grandmother's checks - all used to support her addictions to cigs, booze, and drugs. Mom would have been out of her misery, and we wouldn't have had to deal with her, anymore.
As for my backwoods relations' current generation,
if the druggies would die, they'd stop trying to drag everybody else down into the gutter with them. Their problems would be over, and their families' problems, with
them, would be over, too.
Win/win.
As it is, the rich side of the family (the descendants of the Russian Peddler, all of us long-gone from Mississipppi), could intervene, and snatch the cousins back home, from the Poverty Cycle, despite their low IQs. But, at present, we CAN'T, because the druggies on that side of the family will
(and we know this from experience) identify us as sources of money - manufacturing crisis after crisis, in order to extort money from us.
When there
IS an OD, or when one of them wraps his car around a tree
(or gets his brains blown out), I think that there is a sigh of relief, within both the genetically-enriched, and the genetically-cursed sides of the family. So, if the rest of the
"Problem Children" could drop dead from using "Grey Death", a huge obstacle would be removed.
