Ok what about non-diabetics and you never said whether eating half a watermelon a day was bad for a person to eat or not, especially if it's considered a meal (breakfast)
While it might fill you up -- it's not a meal. A meal contains a balance of protein and carbohydrates and fat. So -- wrap up a few of those melon balls in Proscuitto, and add a little cheese... that's more like a meal.
And if you add some protein that melon will give you energy for a longer time -- the protein tempers the burn off of the carbohydrates in the melon.
I never eat my half a watermelon unless it has half a salt shaker on top! I love 'salted' watermelon. If I'm going to go; I might as well make it fast!
Also depends on the watermelon. Some are barely larger than grapefruits. Half of one of those, while not ideal, is certainly not going to damage anyone.
Wow. I eat a lot of watermelon, and I was surprised to see it contains so much sugar. Sigh.
The other one that surprised me was bananas. I always thought of a banana as a pretty safe snack, since it is thick and filling and not sweet. Now I keep seeing how high it is in sugar. That's so weird, because bananas don't taste very sweet.
I love watermelon too and was eating half a one a day last summer..
gives you a good cleansing..
