I had a VERY long perimenopause that lasted from my late 30s until I was 50. How annoying it all was. I was so happy when my periods ended at age 50. I remember looking down at my pelvis when my period would start, saying, "Hey! We're not having any babies! You can stop this monthly bleeding nonsense." LOL

I had a hysterectomy at 55. Up until that point, I was still having periods, but they were sporadic. Sometimes I'd have a couple of periods within a month, and other times, I'd go 3 or 4 months without one at all.

One time, around Christmas, I woke up one morning just wanting to smack somebody. Anyone would do. Got to work, and the mood did not improve one iota. Which was unfortunate, as I had a lot to do that day. Later, I'm driving home, and the songs on the radio are making me cry. I stop at the grocery store to buy the makings to make brownies. I can't find white chocolate chips, and I just start SOBBING in the grocery store aisle because I can't find white chocolate chips. LOL

I'm thinking to myself..."WHAT the heck is wrong with me?? Am I losing my ever-loving mind? By the time I get home, I'm just DONE. Worn out.

The next day, I started my period. Man...I was SO relieved. I didn't know what was wrong with me, to be SO emotional and SO cranky. I hadn't had a period in like...6 months so blaming the moodiness on THAT just hadn't occurred to me.

Got my period the first time on my 11th birthday! I'm now 42 and I'm sooooooo over it! Over 30 freaking years. Can't think of anything I want to do for 30 years let alone something that makes me so sick and miserable.

Started at 14, was done at 53. Most ladies I know were done mid- to late 40's, so I was not pleased. Especially since I had a horrible perimenopause, everything from panic attacks to serious anemia from super heavy periods to weight gain to major exhaustion. I am so glad to be done with all of that.

Started at 9, had a hysterectomy at 48, wish I had it done sooner. Terrible pain, cramps and depression every month. If insurance will pay for surgery, I recommend having it done. Surgery was a pain too, because I had tumors on my uterus and it was big. Never had or wanted kids, so whole thing was a PITA.

9? OMG! I thought being 11 was awful.

I went into menopause over a year ago at 48 and now I've just gotten another period a week or so ago, and boy did it make me cranky!

I feel for you.

This is a long shot, but are you eating a lot of soy? If so, get rid of it for three months and see if that helps. Read labels because it's in everything these days.
Unfortunately, my mother passed away in 2002 and I never had a chance to ask her about it. When I asked my father if he remembered, he just got all uncomfortable and changed the subject -- Ha!
