Hello, I was diagnosed with Trichmonis last month and went to my gyno because I was having lower stomach cramps and some tingling in the vagina that came for a short period of time. I was also having a lot of discharge. I am now starting to think that these were symptoms of my period. I started my period yesterday and the symptoms are now gone. The gyno swab me for mycoplasma and uroplasma because she wanted to make sure no infection did not come with the trich. She did not tell me that these things were also sexually acquired. This is my first time hearing about these STIs. She took a look at my vagina and noticed a small amount of discharge. She then prescribed me metro and anzithromycen to take all at once together. My labs will be back Thursday. Does this mean I have mycoplasma genitalia? After taking the medicine, the symptoms left altogether but somewhat came back the next day and that is when period started. I still feel some sort of stinging pain that comes and goes in vagina area.

The only person who can answer your questions is your doctor, when she gets your test results back.

Metronidazole is also used to treat bacterial vaginosis, which is not a sti. A period can mask the symptoms of a vaginal infection but won't get rid of one.
