I'm mid-40s and occurrences of dizziness have been rare in my life. The few times it's happened have usually been in the mornings, when waking. I started kayaking again (never experienced dizzy spells when kayaking 15 years ago) and a few weeks ago, after kayaking in a slight current, I had a very bad spell that night in bed (approx 10 hours afterwards). This was the only time it happened, I guess because I'd been rocking a bit in the water. I am prone to seasickness, but I was not seasick that day. This was the worst dizziness I'd ever experienced, my head swam so bad it really scared me, and as a result I'm terrified to kayak in a current again. Before going to bed, I did have some minor dizziness that evening, but laying down seemed to make it much worse.
I have been in choppy waters before, on boats, and this hasn't happened. Does this make any sense to anyone, and anything I can do about it, if I want to kayak in a current?
Could be many things that would cause the dizzyness you describe, top of my shortlist of forum guesses would be low blood pressure resulting from an unfamiliar workout.
Second on the list although unlikely that long after would be a hypoglycemic event.(Low blood sugar)
Well, this was the 3rd or 4th kayak venture of the month and it was the least strenuous of all of them. Appreciate your input, not ruling anything out.
Was it dizzy or like feeling you were back on the water rocking back and forth?

Seasickness can happen out of the blue even though you never had it before.
Could also be Mal Disembarkment syndrome
Keep some Dramamine on hand in case it happens again. The type that has meclizine in it. It will knock you to to sleep (don't drive on it) but it should stop the dizziness.
I cannot find a good definition for the term "dizziness", so I suppose it was vertigo....my head was spinning REALLY bad. Never experienced it that bad before. Alright if I have to go in a current again, I will take the pills, thanks.
Doctor. Asking strangers on the internet about something this nebulous is an exercise in futility.
