Well they'd be ridiculously old now. Teddy's been dead almost 100 years. He'd be almost 160 years old now. He died from a blood clot. Nothing to do with a bullet.
Your son is an adult. Cut the cord and let him handle his minor (and yes, this is fairly minor) medical issues himself.
Either he's mature enough to handle it, in which case you have no business running interference with docs, or he's immature, in which case it's high time to step off and let him grow up. Either way, it's his thigh to deal with.
And yes, as everyone else has said, it's usual to leave something like a BB in place, and you're doing completely wrong by overriding the docs' medicine advice. Antibiotics when not needed - and they're not needed if there's no infection - is where antibiotic-resistant bacteria come from. Antibiotics are also hard on the body in general and should be avoided as much as possible. And giving him a pain med scrip that doesn't belong to him is completely illegal.

if it wasn't there when you were born...it needn't be there now.
Yes the human body can "adjust" to foreign matter being introduced to it. It takes its toll though.
The "nerve" damage was already done when the item became lodged. Get it removed. End of discussion.

Where did you go to medical school?
