Really? Then I'm pleasantly surprised.

...and most people take it home to wash at least occasionally.

Just like we tend to expect more in terms of morals from ministers, I think we do as well from healthcare workers. Maybe a certain level of maturity, at least - otherwise why would you trust them in a medical situation.

Sure, they're human - but ya know what, I expect more from my President as well - and why shouldn't I?

Sure have heard some whoppers!

Example:friend in hospital after suffering a TA. In comes the nurse. My friend stirred the kettle when she said to the nurse...hey nurse Cheryl tell my friend here about your parents. Well..ten minutes of visceral contempt about the elderly emoted. I was agape. This 'professional' sincerely needed to get out of the career. I don't care how 'technology' advanced she was...she lacked something most careers expect...respect for humanity. Sure I get how ppl would just as soon cast off elders as an inconvenience ...but can't say some parents didn't feel the same way about that ungrateful daughter.

Logically ...yes certain containers are more apt to harbor germs...just like that phone or elevator buttons they used ...go figure..

Uncalled for, for sure, but how did you know the person who made the comment was a nurse? Did you ask to see her credentials?

Most people are opinionated (just look at some of the posts on CD), but knowing when to keep those opinions to oneself and minding one's own business may be the issue here.

From the title I thought you were shocked that a nurse (or other educated person) would use "wow just wow." I wanted to jump in with how annoying that term is, especial coming from a nurse who should have a better mastery of language. Apparently not. What is is that is particularly shocking becasue it came from a nurse? Not following here. And what is the wow part about that? Sorry I am a bit confused now.

Also, did you thank her for warning you about the health risks of drinking from those bottles?

There are 2 kinds of nurses in this world -- A) the ones who discuss people's bowel movements in grisly detail at the breakfast table, and B) the ones who faint dead away if the cat jumps on the kitchen counter because it's spreading GERMS. Sounds like you ran into one from Column B.

A lot of people go into the medical field so they can be right all the time and boss patients around. We've all met a few of those. But it sounds as if you got one who is still in middle school!

I would thank her for the tip and take care to clean my bottle more carefully in the future; she probably knows what she's talking about.

But the reused, unwashed bottle is a haven for germs.
