No kidding and some here think the supplement world should not make money...I've heard that too many times here. Wonder if the antioxidant industry makes billions? I hope so, they deserve it ..

This is great news and an important development to help limit shingles in older patients

By the way the risk of developing shingles in people 85 and older is 1 in 2.....so 50 50 "shot" you will develop shingles if you are still around in 6-10 years

There are "no preventions to keep the system strong" that will prevent shingles and absolutely ZERO evidence that lysine has ANY effect on shingles....certainly doesn't prevent it....

They only deserve it if the benefit equals the cost to the person - most supplements can't state any clear benefit.

Doing some research...

CDC (and other sources) say 1 out of 3 adults will get shingles. So 33% of all adults will have shingles.

Does anyone know which study this 33% figure came from? I figured it'd be easy to find since it affects 1/3 of the population, it's such a huge portion of the population. But I cannot find it. TIA if anyone knows.

(BTW, none of my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, double that in the in-laws ... talking upwards of 50+ adults in the age range ... no one has ever had shingles. Guess that they are all just super lucky? Looking forward to seeing the PI.)

I've not had shingles but many friends and family members have. Sometimes it's simply annoying or inconvenient; but when you know someone who has had a horrific case, and had to spend weeks in a dark room due to shingles on his eyeballs, among other places, that vaccine looks pretty attractive. I'll be getting one for sure.

My friend developed shingles before the vaccine came out. Then she developed post-herpatic neuralgia-talk about hell on earth!
