If I end up having to have a colonscopy which is almost certain, I will definitely be going private. My nerves won't be able to wait on 18 weeks minimum on NHS british healthcare. That said, because there was blood in my sample I am hoping I will be fast tracked as a possible cancer case.
Why do I need a therapist? I have bowel cancer or at best a delibitatating inflammatory disease diagnosis. I need to start making arrangements
I am 57 years old and have been living with IBS since the age of 20..... I was also diagnosed with microscopic colitis about 3-4 years ago.....
While not always pleasant or even easy to deal with, neither has impacted my life in such a way that I felt debilitated and unable to carry on with a normal life.....
I work full time, own and care for a house, have 6 dogs and 2 cats, regularly drive several hundred miles at a time as a volunteer pet rescue transport driver and still make time for my friends.... stay pretty busy!!
oh, and a colonoscopy is really nothing to be afraid of, (sorry Ringo!! )
I have undergone several of them over the years.... the prep is the worst part, imo.... but the actual procedure itself?? I have always been sedated and then awakened as soon as it was over.... no pain or discomfort at all!!
I am in the UK though, colonscopies aren't so easy over here.
I really hope it is just IBS I have. Only had diarrhoea once in the morning past two days but still seeing blood with it at times It's very frightening

If the blood is bright red, it is not coming from your gut..... more likely, a hemorrhoid or two... which, btw, I also have.....
Problem is I have seen it look dark red, separate from stool on one occassion and on another time, I have seen a bit of bright red blood in the stool. Typical IBD/colon cancer. There is never really much blood sometimes none at all but it may be hidden.

I saw another thread you posted where it sounds like you actually do have a hemorrhoid or three..... Even if they are internal, that would be the source for any bright to not-so-bright red blood in your stool.....

Blood from the gut tends to be black....
Good info. I've had blood over years and it was hemms from constipation all my life. I have NOT seen a sign of blood for years and it must be some of the supps I'm taking to keep more regular. That blood sign can send someone into horrific fear.
You are in the states though right? I am in the UK and they only sedate. I have heard so many horror stories of people even then finding it excruciating
Do pay some attention to his information about pain and lack thereof.
