This is a good time to see what people are doing to try to prevent the flu.
My list: Wear disposable gloves when in public places especially supermarkets. Even with disposable gloves be sure not to touch your face. If you need to scratch use a tissue. I use a CC exclusively to avoid handling cash. I try to avoid anyone who is sneezing or coughing. I keep hand sanitizer in the car and use it as needed. Produce, I spray it with spray hydrogen peroxide and leave it sit a while then wash in fresh water.
Wash hands often. Use a nasal rinse. Use a good air filter.
I have to wear a mask in most stores for other health reasons. That reminds me not to rub my face. The mask I'm using now, a Cambridge mask, says it filters out bacteria and viruses.
I wash some produce with soap, but not to prevent flu or get rid of gems, rather to get off the wax they apply to it.
Try to stay away from crowded places even the doctors office if possible as well as washing our hands frequently. Other than that, we do nothing. I would never think of using disposable gloves or a mask unless I had a health problem that required doing so. Too much protection and concern can be worse than none at all. We didn't even get our flu shots this year, and now it seems a bit too late. That was a slip up on our part.
I volunteer at a place where I see a lot of people. I wash my hands often, use hand sanitizer a LOT, and keep my hands away from my face. We do have masks to hand out to clients who seem sick.
Hand washing. Wiping down the cart handle at grocery store. Extra Vitamin C and D. Elderberry Syrup. Nutrition (limited sugar, meals made with fresh herbs, onion, garlic, tea with lemon, etc.)
Nothing much. I believe a little dirt keeps your immune system on its toes, so to speak. I have a supplement I take, I get my flu shot, and I wash my hands at work before eating/when ready to leave. I deal with the poor and mentally ill. We have masks for anyone who is coughing or sneezing a lot but so far, have not had anyone who needs it. If they are that sick, they stay home. Been doing this for many years, 75 y/o now. I got bronchitis in Dec for 3 days; first time sick in 7 yrs.
Just the flu shot. Tried to be hand conscious while traveling, but I really don't use a lot of hand sanitizer or anything.
