That said, is it possible to reverse my bone loss and regrow new bone?

OH here we go, controversial subject LOL.
That is debatable. The general opinion is: Not really, probably, but maybe.
I'm not feeling confident in your doctor if he didn't answer this very basic question for you. OTOH, prescription Vitamin D goes hand in hand with Osteo protocol. I assume he told you EXACTLY what to do about the calcium, too?
Thyroid? Is your endo doing the HRT?
That machine is not for osteoporosis.
Do some research. They want you to do weight bearing sorta foot stomping BUT YOU NEED A PROFESSIONAL TO GUIDE YOU before you break a hip! Same with YOGA - NO. You need a professional program. Only a few movements are permitted with Yoga, for example.
What was your Vitamin D level?
My DEXA was close to osteopenia.
I eat all vegs and greens and rarely need calcium supps but when I'm short I rotate:
Dr Fuhrman's (algae based)
Garden of Life Raw Calcium (algae)
NOW brand Bone Strength (MCHA)
NOW brand Calc. Hydroxyapatite (cow bone)
No calciums from rocks!
Most have not just calc but mag, MK4, MK7, D3...and other stuff they're all different
My personal
conclusion is that the Hydroxyapatite is the most effective but I'm not betting the farm on just one, so I'm going with rotations. My second choice would probably be Dr. Fuhrman's. But the research also shows positive for the MCHA - and the NOW brand one is very complete . (lol)
Track all your meals/nutrients in Cronometer. It's fantastic. I use it desktop, the gold version - it's cheap $14 per YEAR....but the free one is good too.
Every single vitamin, mineral, amino, and carb, fat, protein is broken down for you based on what you entered so you know if you're actually doing the right thing or kidding yourself.
I didn't need a prescription for D even though it was low @25. Some consider that borderline. I use Garden of Life Vitamin D3 and for
MY PERSONAL needs, the target was near 5000 mg per day. ONLY UNDER DOCTOR'S ORDERS. It's one of those that you can overdose on. My recheck is coming up.
As I enter my foods and supps daily, I can see if I'm low on something like D, so I can add to the food sources with a supp.
Garden of Life brand is all food sourced not chemicals or rocks.
If I had known what I know now about menopause I would have DEFINITELY gone on bioidentical hormone replacement.
Oh, and if you didn't have your B12 checked and do not eat enough animal products, then check that too.
You're so lucky you were responsible and had that DEXA done!
My BFF neighbor fell on a tiny bit of water in her kitchen at age 60 and what a nightmare. 8 RODS in her hip, three months of rehab facility, a lifetime of various cement-type bone medications. The one she's on right now is $3000 per MONTH. But she got in on a trial.
Her doc said her density was the worst he's ever seen.
She still goes back twice a year and I never asked what they do other than check her stuff...the D levels etc. She probably gets a DEXA yearly, too.
