for someone who has high blood pressure and kidney disease. I bought No Salt which has no sodium which is good for people with high blood pressure, but now I noticed it says it has potassium so I can't eat it anymore so is there a salt or alternative salt that will not do any harm for someone who has high blood pressure and kidney disease?

I would hazard a guess that in your case the best salt is NO salt - use herbs and spices.

Try adding flavor to your food with herbs, not salt. What about trying dried seaweed powder?

Our body needs salts, but it's the amounts and to balance with enough potassium. I use pink sea salts. Whatever comes in my canned stuff and I do use some can foods, is what I get...but often buy no salt, low salt and add my own. Health food store canned goods are primarily sea salts.

OP: What does your MD say since you have kidney disease.

If you like kelp seasoning, it tastes WAY salty compared to what it should taste like based on the amount of salt actually in it. And it's balanced with a lot of potassium. Of course, those nutrition labels could be lying to me.

I started going without quite a while ago, I almost never add salt.........I just gradually got used to it. Sometimes I buy stuff with added salt, the salt now really stands out.

What does your doctor suggest you do to get proper sodium intake? In general, maybe reducing foods that have salt "in the mix" can let you use some discretionary salt as a seasoning on other food?

If you have kidney issues, any kind of sodium, whether is real salt or "substitute salt" (like potassium chloride) is BAD for you and your kidneys. Potassium is a HUGE no-no....when kidneys fail, a build up of potassium can kill you...it will stop your heart!

Just use other spices, if you can't eat food plain (and many can't.....so I feel your pain!).... My hubby is in "end stage" renal failure...been on dialysis for 3 years now.

Your diet MUST be watched!!!
