When in doubt see a doctor. Sounds like the thyroid, or a combination of other factors. Doc will test for the reasons and suggest a solution.

I have noticed that sometimes I feel hot and sweaty, then shaky, after I eat sugar, early in the day. I have regular check ups, so I know I don’t have diabetes or thyroid issues. My cure? I don’t eat carbs in the morning.

I’m sure you realize that she should get these things checked, but in the meantime, she should lay off sugar and take a vitamin pill.

I meant more long-term. By not consuming meat and milk, she has eliminated two major sources of important nutrients, Vitamin B12 and iodine. Over the long run, inadequate intake of those nutrients is going to affect your health in negative way. I applaud a decision to avoid animal products, for whatever reason. However, low Vitamin B12 and iodine are going to affect the thyroid gland, even if it is otherwise healthy, and hypothalmus area of the brain, which regulates your body temperature.

Since her diet closely resembles that of a Vegan, perhaps looking at supplementation guidelines for that would be helpful. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition...egans#section2

I'm going with the Thyroid as well.

Not something to fool with as left untreated; Graves disease is possible and if that is left untreated, muscle weakness and heart damage can occur.

The oncologist who finally treated my wife stated that an enzyme emitted by the Thyroid can dissolve muscle tissue and since the heart is all muscle........

Another symptom to take note of is mood swings. The people who've been through this before have stated that the resultant mood swings of people afflicted with an undetected Thyroid condition can be responsible for a lot of divorces.

My wife took the radioactive pill which they brought to her in a shot glass on the end of a long arm carried by a nurse wearing full protective gear. "you won't even risk getting near it and you want me to swallow it ?"

You can detect it through specific blood work tests.

Get to a specialist and don't delay.

We both think she is past menopause. She apparently had her thyroid checked out recently and it was okay. So, the plot thickens. Looking through other comments, no, no mood swings. Blood tests look mostly okay.

She really isn't a vegan per se. She occasionally has a little milk, and only rejects foods she dislikes (mostly meat and eggs). She could be low on protein, though she's going to start drinking protein shakes. She has been taking some above-average calcium pills lately, and may be getting enough calcium now. She's changing her diet for the better now, starting to eat more vegetables, and no bread, no pasta, no heavy saucy dishes.

I'm still guessing that her metabolism may be off, and the borderline diabetes still needs addressing. She has been taking medicine for high blood pressure (she is overweight), but may be off it or near getting off of it. She's been going to both a traditional doctor, and lately, a naturopath.

By the way, this is the best area of the forum! You all are great at contributing and helping. Thank you!

Go to the Dr. there are too many variables....and you don't want to second guess and not treat these conditions properly.

Sometimes a brain-injury can cause body-temperature dysregulation.
