@Unicorn Hunter, "triglycerides were in the high range" same with me, Triglycerides were in 1500+ units, so high that the LDL could not be measured. Years of Triclor (fenfribrate) and whatever statin doctor wanted try, and niacin, and fish oil (she wanted me take up 36/day. Agony.

Cardiologist put me on gemfibrozil (inexpensive like fenfribrate). Triglyercides now down to 600 and cholesterols are values are meaningful. No change in diet.

Leastprime, my triglycerides were measured at 200....not sure if we are using the same measurement system....1500 seems amazingly high.....I can't imagine taking 36 fish oil capsules a day! Wow! Glad you got things under control!

I take flax seed oil now with Atorvastatin because in the past I thought fish oil was making me itch. I’ve had shell fish make my hands itch before when handling for fish bait. 1500 is a real world triglyceride score as my first ever blood profile in 1989 came back with cholesterol combined @ 590 and triglycerides at 3110. The nurse told me it was very high but some even had higher. No statin has ever made me itch and Atorvastatin is the first statin that so far has no felt side effects for me as long as it’s only a 10mg dose.

My last dose of Atorvastatin was on Friday. Still ache quite a bit, but it may be easing off a little bit. My PCP said to stop taking it and monitor the results. We'll see.

I just took 10 mg of Atorvastatin for 2 days. Couldn't sleep a wink. Insomnia is a side effect. I'm throwing it away.

I’m on 80 mg/day. I’ve been on statins forever. They don’t bother me in any way.
