I had my pap smear exam on September 5 of last year and can't go back to the gynecologist until September 6 of this year. I am on birth control pills and the doctor only gave me prescription for one year but a pack of pills is only 28 days long so a prescription with 12 refills would not get me through the whole year. So I'm not sure what to do, could I just go to a general doctor and get it filled that way?
Are you sure you are taking then correctly? If I remember from way back when I took them you had enough in each packet for one full month, a few 5-7 were just sugar pills so you wouldn't forget to take them.

They are still for 28 days, not 30 or 31 days commensurate with a calendar month. Many insurance companies will give enough refills for 13 packs, but I imagine that if she just contacts the pharmacy and asks them to call her doctor, she will put in a refill for an extra month. I have never had a problem getting another month or two while waiting for my next appointment.

A prescription for one pack with 12 refills should be a total of 13 packs and should get you to a 12 month follow up appointment. If you were only given 11 refills, ask your pharmacist to request one more from your doctor.

Yes, I get 3 weeks of active pills and 1 week of inactive pills. 7*4=28

I think they may have typed it in wrong at the pharmacy
