95% of have no idea how harmful they can be to the body, but they are so desperate for approval, admiration, respect, validation that they are willing to risk their health to get it. It's really sad and pathetic. This what society has done to men. All those superhero movies, muscle magazines, etc, they make men feel inadequate about their physiques.

So many men out there, who suffer from low self esteem and insecurity, who will do anything just to gain approval and respect. The saddest part is that having muscles won't give you anything, except a few glances or an occasional one night stand, is that what life is about? Is that what you working so many hours for in the gym?

Every person who takes steroids on a constant basis has heart disease, they may not know it and they may look "healthy" on the outside, but their insides are dying.

You're putting your health at risk and shortening your lifespan just for the sake of vanity. Worst part is nobody cares that you have big muscles or not. If anything, they're seen a circus freaks by the general public. They're usually perceived as douchebags with huge egos who don't care about anything else but their muscles.

You go to the gym and is so obvious many men are on the stuff, illegal stuff which could be contaminated with bacteria or non sterilized, every time they inject, they are risking getting a massive infection from a possible contaminated batch. Most ironic part is that, in most cases, they don't have anything else of value in their lives, except their precious muscles.

They buy into this scam that obtaining a muscly ripped physique is going to get you women, respect, admiration, success, etc and this couldn't be further from the truth. They sacrifice so much, for so very little.

They are foolish!!!! And that is a gentle word. Steroids in general should be avoided.

There is a pretty famous actor who lives in my neighborhood and I see him at my local supermarket and at least a couple times one could tell how pumped up he was on steroids and when I saw him over a year ago, he must have been going off the steroids, he looked old and wrinkled and so different. Not good those steroids. He was making a lot of money while using them for his career.

Probably much of the same dynamics at-play as with why almost all women wear makeup. Mainly to make themselves look better, thusly, they feel better about themselves.

Yes and no....

70-85% of women wear make up....

Less than 1% of men use anabolic steroids...

Make up is safe, legal and ubiquitous....

Steroids are illegal, dangerous with known risks in use.....

Agree there is vanity at play but the dynamics are pretty different here.....

Guess again.
Over 10% of high school athletes admit it.

How many aren't admitting it?

Guess again. High schools surveys are dog crap.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Household Survey on Drug Abuse determined 1,084,000 Americans, or 0.5 percent of the adult population, said that they had used anabolic steroids. In the 18 to 34 age group, about 1 percent had ever used steroids.

There you have it 0.5 percent for the adult population and 1% 18-34. Do you have any idea how expensive anabolic steroids are? You also need the lab test, post cycle therapy, syringes, supplements, and food to go with it. LOL for thinking 10% of high school athletes could get their hands on all of that.

Hello, it shrinks your genitals and gives you breasts. Sorry, but most small men are not that desperate to get muscles, not at that cost. 1% is 1%, not 10%.

I coach and spend a good bit of time in high school weight rooms. I just don't see that many hard core lifter who would be the likely users. I'm sure there are pockets of users where the word spreads and usage becomes higher. At my local high school, there is only one athlete who I would even suspect and that is because he is incredibly strong especially for his size.

Bingo. It isn't like buying a bag of weed.

In fact, I daresay that once one has made all of the connections, they're likely to have a very complete grasp of everything required to make it work. Because, you aren't simply going to shoot up and look like Arnold.
