I never had acid reflux in my life, and yet, now I seem to be "cured" of it. It has been 8 days since I stopped cold turkey Omeprazole and I haven't had a one episode of acid reflux or rebound at all.

I haven't used any tums, any acid suppressing pills, nothing. I even had "risky" food, such as spicy chicken, coca cola, coffee, and didn't have reflux at all.

I never went to the doctor to find out, because by the time I was on omeprazole, I was already better, figured let's wait and see if I improve on my own and save myself hundreds of dollars at the docs.

Now, if PPI reduces acid production to a minimum and it solved my reflux and burning pain, this mean that I was producing too much acid for whatever reason. The PPI treatment allowed my body to recover and fix whatever I had, which was probably an ulcer, so technically, I'm back to normal.

The question is how did this happen in the first place. Chances are I contracted h. pylori or some other bacteria. The question is how. I always wash my hands very well.

The only 3 things I did different in that timeframe

- I was eating lots of greek yogurt everyday, which contains bacteria = bacteria overgrowth?
- I thawed out and ate some chicken I had in the freezer for longer than 1 year, this is very unlikely to do anything bad
- I ate a whole bag of cheetos in one sitting lol

I'm sure it was the greek yogurt, i was eating it like candy everyday

You could have an allergy to milk and by eating so much of the yogurt caused your problems. I do believe that a lot of this acid reflux is due to a food allergy or sensitivity and the person just needs to stop eating that food.
