I had a neighbor that believed this, never owned a BBQ grill. Of course his wife would come over and borrow ours when he was out of town. Guy was nuts about a lot of things!

Guaranteed? No, nothing guarantees you will develop cancer, except maybe not dying of anything else.

Of Course not!!! eating anything once will not give you cancer. If you are going to adhere to that carbon equals cancer idea then you better have never had a piece of burn't toast.

Of course eating very much of burnt meat or burnt anything else is not very pleasant.

I couldn't say but here's an internet answer (from my query) about it, you decide.

Is it Healthy to Eat the Charred Part of Meat? Written by Jan Sheehan; Updated December 17, 2018

Charred meat can be hazardous to your health because burned meat contains potentially cancer-causing substances. Charring meat over an open flame produces these chemicals, which have been linked to a number of cancers. That doesn’t mean you need to give up grilling, however. Taking precautions to eliminate charring meat while grilling will help protect your health.

Yes. However, ancient man often didn't survive long enough to develop cancer.

It IS a carcinogenic but if we were guaranteed to get cancer from eating it just once, I think most of us of middle age or older would be dying or already dead.
