My husband tried this in the hospital after surgery and loves it---soothing, aloe, can just spray, not wash off. If the link doesn't work, look on Amazon for perineal cleansers:

Use organic coconut oil. This stuff is the best cleanser there is. Antibacterial, too.

Soap doesn't cause jock itch, in fact washing with soap is part of the treatment.

Often soap residue left on the area because it isn't rinsed well after use may cause irritation or may aggrevate a rash that's already there. If this is the case, it can help a lot to make sure the area is rinsed well with plenty of water, and well dried.

Good info.

OTOH- it may be true jock itch-- a fungal problem. Lotrimin cream is OTC and the treatment of choice.

Instead of soap, one may use any kind of oil- olive oil, cooking oil, etc and just towel it off. The "active" part of soap is fat (glycerin + three fatty acids)-- it dissolves the body oils we're trying to clean off. That's how the Romans did it at their famous Baths.

Like others mentioned, jock itch is a fungal problem. Go see your doctor. He may prescribe an ointment which is a mixture of a prescription strength "lotramin" mixed with hydrocortisone. At least, that is what I got for my athlete's foot.

I was going to say, I doubt it's the soap. Probably the groin. Have you seen a Dr., OP?
