Hi,
Thanks for asking help, and here is the remedy for sore throat:
Take 1 cup of warm water and allow it to mix with 1 tablespoon apple side vinegar, as this is the old remedy that our ancestors used when there was no advanced medical science present. For best results use additional use of 1 tablespoon honey is recommended. You should also try lemon with warm water and a bit of honey or saltwater may be the best way to maximize its benefits. If the above things will not give a positive result you should contact a sore throat specialist near your place.
Do not EVER put vicks "in" your nose with a q-tip. If you need a Vicks inhaler, which is just fumes and not something rubbed on the skin, go for it. Don't put the petroleum-based product in your nose, in your ear, your mouth, or anywhere there's a bodily cavity. That is dangerous and can cause permanent damage to the bodily cavity.
There is something you can try, that I haven't seen anyone mention and it's not alternative meds - just normal over the counter stuff: cepacol lozenges, or chloroseptic spray. You can get them at any CVS, supermarket, or department store in the same aisle all the other cold medicines are located.
