Do you know how many people would mess up? You see it here all the time. One comes to mind where they said they wouldn't take aspirin, but had some pain supplement they take instead.... which contained... wait for it....

Yes - supplements seldom contain a single ingredient and are given fancy names so the active ingredient may sound unfamiliar. Also, supplements may have other impacts beyond what they are advertised for and don't have to be tested for side effects and interactions. There are many unknowns since supplements are almost completely unregulated.

Safer to just say "don't take anything". In terms of foods to avoid, that seems a little strange but I've known some people to gorge on pineapple a week or two before surgery because they heard it promotes healing. People can go overboard with anything and do seem more likely to binge and be extreme these days than in the past.
