I have a job interview in a few days, and they do drug testing. I have a prescription of Sertraline(Zoloft 50mg) that I was given June 21, 2019. I only took one tablet that very day and quit.

Basically I want to know should I even put this medicine down on the form when I take the urinalysis?

I heard it disappears within two days, however I've also researched that something called a metabolite (Desmethylsertraline) that is a part of Zoloft stays in the body longer, and will therefore show up in a drug test as a benzodiazepine which is a disqualification without a prescription.

So again do I tell about a drug that I took exactly one time almost two months ago or should I put it down anyway to be on the safe side because of the slim chance I might have the metabolite (Desmethylsertraline) still in my system?

It won't show up on a urinalysis, and even if it did, you have a prescription for it. I don't understand why you are even worried about it, if by some miracle it showed up, NO ONE CARES.

It doesn't matter if you took it an hour before the test, employment drug tests don't screen for those kinds of drugs.

A urinalysis isn't designed to detect Zoloft (AKA sertraline)a non-controlled antidepressant.

And after using it for one day two months ago, it is long gone out of your system.

What does show up in a urinalysis? Generally speaking, two classes of substances:

1) controlled prescription medications -- Adderall and Ritalin and their analogues; benzodiazepines (Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, etc.), pain medications (hydrocodone, oxycodone, etc.)

2) street drugs -- marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, ecstasy, etc.

If you are taking a controlled substance and it shows up, you can prove that it was legally prescribed.

Why are you even asking? Yes, of course tell them. Why wouldn't you? What's the benefit of NOT telling them?
Why take an unnecessary chance?

No on all counts. As others have said - they are aren't testing for THAT...you only took ONE...and it was MONTHS ago...and it was PRESCRIBED. Are you also going to tell them your other "sins" just to feel better? Do you tell your girlfriend when you happen to glance at another woman in passing?

Interesting fact:

Actually, some meds that are tested in hair (not the urine that OP is talking about) can detect drugs (not sure about Zoloft) for months- until hair is cut below a time period when the drug was picked up in hair roots

Which is why legalizing weed is no big deal. Sure you can abstain for two weeks and pass a urine test but if you potential future boss tests your hair you are screwed.
