That's just not true across the board. There are providers who don't take that view...and they are often the ones with more patient-generated "revenue" than they could ever hope for. They don't need to drum up business in order to have a fine reputation.

Yes, I agree that there are some ethical and excellent providers within a healthcare system that is, IMO, overall broken. US healthcare is largely a fee-for-service system, and the incentives are to do more treatments and procedures, for which the provider is paid more, rather than being paid for outcomes. There may be a few exceptions to this in the US.

Fee-for-service (FFS) is a payment model where services are unbundled and paid for separately. In health care, it gives an incentive for physicians to provide more treatments because payment is dependent on the quantity of care, rather than quality of care.

Just my 2 cents.

On this surgery issue, one can choose the most highly qualified surgeon they have info on, I did, and still come out with issues.

Everyone is aware there are risks to surgery....there are also risks to not having surgery if a problem requires surgery to correct.

Fortunately the overwhelming majority of patients that undergo surgery have no serious complications

There are grocery delivery options. I use Instacart and love it. You go to their site, choose your store, and shop online and choose your delivery time. They bring everything and take it to your kitchen! I pay $99 per year for free delivery; otherwise it is 7.99 per delivery. You have to order at least 35.00 per order which is easy. The produce and all has been just great, and I give them a nice tip.

I do the same thing with Instacart since I had to give up driving due to hip/knee mess. What I save on NOT owning an auto!!!! Life is full of twists and turns and we have to adapt.

I've ordered fresh flowers, seed packets, planting mix, TP, bleach, a turkey--it's GREAT!
