As far as I know I never dated anyone with Hepatitis C. If someone had it and underwent treatment, is it cured or just dormant or still contagious or what? Would it be safe to have sex with them?
If the virus is no longer detectable in your blood 12 weeks after your last dose of antiviral medication, you will be considered cured of hepatitis C. This is also known as a sustained virologic response (SVR). About 99 percent of people who achieve SVR remain free of hepatitis C for the rest of their lives.
And, you didn't ask your doctor this because.....why? Too embarrassing? So. you're ok with asking internet strangers w/no medical background this, instead?
If you're old enough to get HepC, you're old enough to ask your doc this question.

Hep C is known to be transmitted parenterally- ie- blood transfusions, contaminated needles and such and from mother to fetus.... The rate of transmission via sexual contact is very low-- 1% per yr in an on-going relationship.....OTOH- there are many cases where the source cannot be determined- no hx/o transfusions or injections, etc....????
The advice above about condoms is probably good advice anyway-- not because of Hep C, but the other stuff you could pick up. It's a jungle out there.
