Not true. While she certainly may have valid points, she almost exclusively relies on anecdotal “evidence” that her way is THE right way. Her relatives lived incredibly long lives without doctor’s visits, she’s absurdly healthy for 81 because she eschews western medicine, everyone she knows who’s suffering from some malady would improve/never gotten sick if they just follow her supp protocol.
Are drugs over prescribed ? Yes. Are some medical procedures unsuccessful? Yes. Can supplements help? Maybe.
It’s our responsibility to research our ailment, the prescribed treatment, alternative treatments. Consider research from multiple sources, keeping in mind who funded the research, and make an informed decision from there.
If all you’ve got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
I think you are seeing what you want to see. I do not get that from her posts at all.
Jam talks about her experiences and that of her friends and ends practically every post with some statement about how people are free to do what they want.
Do you disagree that people are free to make their own decisions? Want mandatory healthcare dictates from the gov? Mandatory screening? Forced drug participation?
I have never once, not ever, seen any pro Pharma poster say, people are free to do what they want. They ALL claim screening/testing/drugs are the SOLE answer to every condition/disease. And that anyone who chooses otherwise is an uninformed idiot.
The “knee-jerk followers of the medical cartel edict” also live longer, while the men who refuse to go to the doctor until something is seriously wrong with them tend to die earlier.
Both the men and women in my family all went to doctors, yet all the women lived longer. That is more gender related than number of doctor visits. Women just generally live longer than men. Sorry, 'bout that.
I am the only one in my family who never went to doctors or had screening tests done. They all died younger than I am now. Exception being my great-grandma who lived to be 94 (killed by hit and run driver), but then what screening tests, or vaccines, were around for someone born in 1875?
I don't see how most non-obese men could get a mammogram () but a friend's husband was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to go through treatment. He's fine now. Not surprisingly, it's a little easier for a man to notice a lump. There often isn't anywhere for it to hide.
That's what I wondered. I actually can't imagine a mammogram for a man, and considering the relative rarity of breast cancer in men I'd think widespread mammogram screening wouldn't be feasible. But as you mentioned, a lump that shouldn't be there might be seen, or felt and testing could go on from there.

Then you haven't looked. And speaking of seeing what you want to in others' posts.......

I think this is true for many cases, but not all. My husband comes from a family of men who have all had problems with heart disease. His dad died at 55, and two of his brothers (one older, one younger) had bypass surgery in their 50's. My husband, OTOH, makes regular doctor visits and has been on blood pressure and cholesterol meds since he was in his late 20's (!) and is doing mostly fine in that regard at 63 with no operations or "incidents" (knock wood).
I think the point is that if people know or suspect that they have a problem, then I do think that people should consult an M.D.

For reasons totally unrelated to the topic. Correlation is not causation. Generally, that has been the case since time began and has nothing to do with screening rates.

Really? Show me ONE pro Pharma go get a flu vaccine post that says people are free to choose and aren't uninformed idiots if they choose NOT to get a flu shot.

Almost all of them.
I could care less if anyone forgoes the flu shot. I think it is unwise, but you do you.

Mikala, bless your heart, but you just politely did what she said is done.
If you consider saying "unwise" the same as "uniformed idiot", then I guess so. Many people take things way out of context.
