Any cannabis consumers experience CHS? And does the delivery vehicle have any advantages over the others? (vape, edibles, water pipes, rolled joints) in lessoning the risk?

Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome (CHS) is suspected to be a rare condition that is due to the combination of frequent consumption and the high THC count in cannabis today over what it was back in the 80s.

I was told by one who owns a dispensary in California that people will buy a cartridge containing a full gram of cannibas at a high THC level and inhale way too much and too often. She says the frequency makes the brain respond differently over time and the consumer feels like he needs more and more to repeat the high he had previously. The result can be the opposite of that euphoric high you got the first time.

This is why she advises cannabis consumers to take only a couple of hits for a nice high and do it only recreationally as opposed to daily for hours at a time.

I've asked at least a few who have this lifestyle about their frequency in consuming pot. I'm under the impression that people tend to smoke more and more as time passes, and this is now the known cause of CHS.

I know a friend who has this condition and is now healing because he gave up cannabis. Apparently that is the only known cure. Sure he'll come back to it after his symptoms disappear - probably. His symptoms almost killed him (dehydration), so thankfully he quit immediately.

Do you have any knowledge or experience in this area? They say the cause was easier to find than it will be to find the treatment. It's a relatively new condition, as I understand.

Does not surprise me in the least.....the idea that if you smoke pot, you should go all in and become a pothead-stoner.

So of course, you hit heaps and heaps of the stuff, all the time, you are going to develop a tolerance and need more and more, for the same or smaller impact.

Whatever term you are using to describe this, CHS or whatever does not need a fancy name. It is nothing more than tolerance. A little bit works great at first, the more you consume, the more you need and it is never quite the same as before. This applies not only to pot but other substances like Alcohol.

For what it's worth, I've been using cannabis edibles daily for over three years along with occasional vaping. I've never had CHS or any other problems. I don't think the method of ingestion makes any difference. Some people are just prone to it while others never have a problem.

Using edible-marijuana, as opposed to smoking/vaping, can make it a lot harder to gauge just how much you should take-in.

The impacts from edibles can go on for hours and hit you with some unexpected manifestations. Feedback from smoking/vaping is usually much more upfront and easier to gauge.

This is true. The high from edibles is different, too. Some people say it's more intense. Anyone trying edibles needs to be extremely cautious, start with a small dose and wait a couple of hours before deciding whether or not to take more. Newbies often make the mistake of taking too much because they think it's not working, and then WHAM. Too much THC can be very unpleasant, though it's not life-threatening.

Method of ingestion would not make any difference, but I believe that vaping is the most convenient variant as for beginner as for a fan.

I think the high is a lot longer lasting from edibles. We'll have one small cookie-bar (like 1 inch by 1 inch) at around 6:00 pm, then half a one going to bed. This assures a solid night's sleep with no waking up and many times no wake-up-to-pee either----good until morning!

And no, we've never increased the dosage or frequency, nor feel the need to. Same with drinking. But if I have edibles, I usually don't drink----I'm relaxed enough, lol.

Making some sugar cookies now----simmering the greenery in some sunflower oil to replace the butter in the recipe. Best sleep-aid ever. It's kind of guesswork though, gauging the amount and strength to use. This here is some low-quality stuff smuggled over from our neighbor Colombia.

I can say about myself I am as well a fan, just smoking for fun some pot, at first I was rolling some joints, but I got tired of them really fast, and I decided to try vaping the pot. To be honest, vaping is more intense, after trying vapping from it for the first time, the first idea in my head was to add some nicotine to it, for an easier smoke.

I don't like edibles or vaping.

I'm old school, fire & smoke. I use papers.
