No privacy of health data.


Except - from someone who might actually NEED to know it; like, oh, say, your SPOUSE or your PARENT or your CHILD. Then, it'll take an act of Congress for them to find out anything. But sell all your data to anyone random? Yep, they can do that.


HIPAA is a total scam and sham.

This is misleading.

OP here's what HIPAA is actually intended to do/not do. Also what your rights are.

Providers cannot share your individually identifiable health information without your consent. If you sign the consent (and many people just sign forms without reading them), you gave consent. Many times they'll want consent to share with someone like your GP, a specialist who's involved in your care, or your insurance company.
