It's not mentioned, I think, but although sugar grams are sugar grams, the body reacts differently to refined sugar than it does to naturally occurring sugar in fruit and other natural foods. Because it has to be broken down by the body and doesn't go directly into the bloodstream like refined sugar & honey do. The fiber is a big part of that.

The only way to know for sure is to use a blood glucose meter. A few bites of cereal or fruit or beans sent my mother's blood sugar over the moon.
Some people can lose weight on 100g of carbohydrate per day (plus fat an protein). For carb-loading dinosaurs, that's probably a reduction in their carb intake. However, people with wonky blood sugar or a natural propensity to gain weight are going to have peaks and valleys in their energy levels and find themselves hungry enough to eat a horse an hour or two after meals.
Me, personally--I get hungry and gain weight on more than about 20 or 30g of net carb per day (total carb minus fiber).
