I can't seem to find any up to date information on this. Last info seems to be from early April.
Overly paranoid question (please be easy on me):
I had to pick something up today from a person (I am in NC). They said they would place it out in a specific spot for me to pick up. I got out of my car and it wasn't where they said it was. I turned around and they were right in my face handing it to me. With no mask on. I had my mask pulled down because I wasn't planning on being in contact with anyone.
He said maybe 10-20 words (total of 10-15 seconds about 2-3 feet from my face) as I tried to quickly take it and distance myself as soon as I could.
There is no reason for me to believe this person has Covid-19 but I am still stressed out. I have been lucky to be able to stay at home for the most part throughout all of this.
And other contact I (and most others) have had a mask on. This was just a fluke incident with a person who didn't think it was necessary (even though I told him I wanted it to be contactless and he agreed)
Anyway,
Thoughts? Am I overreacting stressing out about this? I know there is a divide on people who think masks, social distancing, etc. are necessary. Would like to hear honest opinions from those who do believe in all of that.
You're going to hear opinions. Depending on how paranoid each of the responders happens to be, they're going to be all over the place. Opinions won't necessarily make you feel any better and no one will be able to give you a black and white answer. It isn't only about your momentary exposure, your whole personal health susceptibility will play into your risk.
If this really was that easy to get, all the people who happened to hold brief conversations with asymptomatic undiagnosed carriers out in the general air would be dropping like flies. They aren't.
IMHO, your risk is very very low and you are overthinking it. But if you are paranoid, my opinion won't make any difference.

Thank you.
I'm slightly paranoid, but trying to be reasonable.
Wasn't sure if any health officials had made any real conclusions on breathing/exposure etc.

It would still be difficult to make cut and dried conclusions because the people involved matter...you don't know whether this person was an asymptomatic carrier or not. Your personal susceptibility matters too. Something as simple as the wind direction at that moment could play into it too. Just too many variables.

1. yes, you can
2. no, you can't
3. there are 2 strains, one contact and one aerosol infections. Toss a coin
4. you already have it anyway, as, coronavirusis are pretty much with mother's milk.
This should, basically, cover spectrum of responses you will have.

I understand the spectrum of responses there could be.
I guess I was just wondering, in general, based on my description, would you freak out or not?
Has this person been exposed? Is this person a carrier? Are you in a high risk area? Which way was the wind blowing?
We can't answer your question or give you a definite yes, no, or maybe, but I bet you're fine. I wouldn't freak out.
