Once this is over I wonder if we'll build a memorial for covid-19 victims? Seems like we should.

There already is one.

Instead the virus saved children from school shootings and workplace violence. Gun violence overall is down but will trend upwards as things are opening up.

And how many people died from the Asian flu which was prior to world travel like we have now? How many of those who have died from COVID may have died of some other ailment but because they tested positive for it the death certificate listed death due to the virus? This is not an unusual thing for a death certificate not being right on. Add to that how many deaths or breakouts have been attributed to prisons or nursing homes? How many people die of flu every year even though there shots available? No one is saying this it not a bad virus and no one is trying to minimize it, but man are trying to maximize it

Answer to all of that is easy: Look at the year-over-year deaths (CDC). Those people died of something. If it wasn't COVID, maybe we have another secret pandemic.

Wah, wah, no one can seem to stay home a few little mos without scraping the walls (because this hasn't even been 3 full mos of staying-at-home...it's only been 2). Weak @^*($(*$%^! People just have to be out, I guess.

PLUS, I'm a little surprised by the mentality of a LOT of elderly people. They seem to figure since they've lived most of their life already, they're going to be selfish & live haphazardly w/o common sense & "go out with a bang" & not stay cooped up during the "last years of their life". The elderly people who don't care about this are just giving up!

Total B.S.
about the elderly.

If you can link to a specific story that proves your point locally, do so, but the elderly here in the SF Bay Area are doing exactly the opposite as you are saying, taking great care not to even go out except to pick up some groceries. The only exception I have seen are the Tea Party Trumpers on the outskirts who refuse to wear masks because Donny-Boy won't wear them.

Edit: I see you live in Southern California. Your area tends to be red, and you may see Trump-supporters of all ages engaging in unacceptable behavior, just the same as he does.

Until those so-called statistics are elaborated by identifying the victims with a pre-existing condition, they're just propaganda.

I don't understand these arbitrary numbers and their importance. 100,000 dead people is a horrible tragedy but 99,999 is no big deal? 10 people matter, 87 people matter, 101 people matter, 512 people matter, 12,222 people matter. Every single person matters. Or when people die in a plane crash and only the childrens' deaths counts; everyone else's deaths are just an afterthought. Aparently age matters very much in the case of sudden violent deaths. "30 people died, including 12 children."

"They had a hangnail! They were going to die anyway!"

Many screaming they're only nursing home residents think the 8-10 more years (look it up yourself) they might have had are worthless.

Many think that a pre-exisiting condition should be a death sentence, so what the hell if covid killed them. Nevermind that they were fine...had decades left...if not for covid.

Stunningly obtuse. (Look it up )
