"The low sodium state of patients with COVID-19 may not be the consequence of virus infection, but could be a physiological state possibly caused by living habits such as low salt diet and during aging process, which may result in ACE2 overexpression, and increase the risk and severity of COVID-19. These findings may provide a new idea for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19."

Good to know. I'll put this in it's proper place with the other 1001 theories about what causes the virus to be more severe in some people.

Beer virus attaches to ACE2 proteins, and low salt increases expression of ACE. That's why some people who have high blood pressure take ACE inhibitors: Their dumb*** doctors misdiagnose the HBP as a consequence of too much salt when the opposite is true.

Yet another reason to continue being my own Doctor.
Thank you, I knew there is a valid reason that I do not trust Doctors much

Great at diagnosing many diseases, not so great at preventative lifestyle based advice.

Thanks for posting. Early on I read how being dehydrated would make you more susceptible to the virus, that it didn't like attaching to "dry" cells.

I'm no scientist, obviously, but I can drink more water and add some salt to my cooking, I probably don't eat enough as it is.

In a different health forum last year, I remember folks saying they would lick a little high quality salt in their palm before drinking water so it didn't run right through them. So, not enough salt, not enough water, fixing that is just as easy as also putting on a mask and won't hurt.
