Good idea to check out the reviews on the net and such. Someone mentioned looking for a second hand one, not a bad idea for saving money. Much of the time people buy a juicer .. all pumped up .. for awhile, and then it sits in the corner unused afterwards.

I know, as I go through phases with mine also.

One helpful suggestion .. the more parts to contend with and clean, the more you will probably not stay with it.

Look for one that's simple to put together and take apart and clean. Also very helpful, one that has an opening for the juice and another for the pulp, so you can juice away and not have to stop and empty the pulp every glassful, or take apart and empty .. to continue to keep juicing.

This will be more expensive, but if I'd known what I know now, would have looked to buy one from the local buy and sell, as you can usually get one for about a third or quarter of the price of a new one. Chances are the person selling it, bought it and didn't get into it, so it would probably be in decent shape and not to 'icky'.

Stone: Excellent thoughts! What you said about getting all pumped up for awhile and then letting it sit in the corner is exactly why I don't want to buy an expensive top-end juicer. I'll think about what you said, seriously. Thanks!!!

Three day fast? holy moly, I don't know if I'd have the willpower! Weekends are my sore spots for watching what I eat, drink. But I'll think about it...

Actually, I'm looking at the Juiceman Jr. at Target, it's around $40 I think. Our anniversary is coming up and it's on my wishlist, so I'll have to wait until then. But I can tell my hubby knows I really want one.

I'll get a juicer one way or the other. And then I'll come back and post asking for recipes! Thank you!!!

I had my fiance "file" down the little prongs that hold it on just a little bit and now, NO problem.

I juice a lot and have lost weight, feel great and have lots more energy. It's been a very positive and fun experience for me just being able to create new juices. Things you wouldn't even think taste good mixed, really do!

I'd be happy to give out some pointers for recipes for anyone intersted. I even did a 3-day fasting juice over the weekend recently and you would be surprised with juicing, you are not hungry at all! It's so great.

Anyhoo, good luck whatever you do, you can find a crap load of recipes on line and just be creative! Your staple fruits and veggies are going to be carrots and apples, they are the base of almost every recipe.

Good luck!

Sure! I would love to have some more recipes. I like to get creative and make all sorts of mixes. Let us know what you do.
