Why isn't anyone requiring we wear goggles/face shields for Covid 19 protection? (infection, surgery)

The mask protects both to some degree - but the greatest degree is FROM the wearer to someone else - and the lesser degree is vice-versa.
So the OPs point - that masks didn't keep people from catching it - is to ignore that they are not MAINLY meant for that strategy, even though there may be some evidence of reduced spread.
OK - the assumption by the OP - is just wrong. How can we still be educating people on this after six months.
Repeat after me: MASKS ARE NOT MAINLY MEANT TO PROTECT THE WEARER.
No "eye membrane" or some other cosmic method is necessary. The Mask is JUST to protect ME from YOU - if YOU are the one wearing it. Seriously. That's how it works.

Seriously, that is NOT just how it works. If it was then why do health care professionals wear them?
To protect covid patients from THEM?
Clearly protection goes both ways and varies depending on many circumstances.
COVID is not going to run its course unless we flatten the curve. Herd immunity is simply a death sentence for some. Which members of your family are you willing to sacrifice?
Isn't that a bit above and beyond? That is like saying why are we not required to stay in our house 24/7 except for doctors appointments or some emergency?
Rather than put more restrictions on us, how about relaxing things and let the COVID run its course?
The only problem with that solution is finding enough room to stack the bodies until we get to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (herd immunity)

Actually,that is NOT what i implied.
But yes,some are still catching Covid 19 even when most people are wearing masks.
If Covid stays in the air for 3 hours,even when practicing social distancing,not touching anything, and having a mask on,you can still catch it through THE EYES!
Well,there is also the belief that the TB vaccine offers protection.
Then adequate Vitamin D levels offers protection.
Then TYPE O blood.
Living in warmer climates(since debunked)
And now eyeglasses.
